7 Quick Easter & Spring Knitting Ideas from LOVE CRAFTS

Easter is one of my favorite times of the year!

What is not to love about springtime? In Colorado, where I live, it means giant snowstorms mixed with greening grass and budding trees and flowers. The elk and deer are growing their antlers and dropping their calves and fawns. And of course, I cannot think Easter without considering the religious significance to my family and me.

For knitters, Easter means a whole new opportunity to try out some quick and easy projects that will impress your kids, grandkids, friends or significant other! When winter is coming to a close and many knitters are putting away their needles and yarn, you can be learning some new skills and using up some of those built-up yarn leftovers.

Below you will see my 7 favorite Easter/Spring knitting projects from Love Crafts. Some patterns are offered on their website for free and the others are almost all under $5. If you follow the link to the pattern you will also see an convenient list of recommended materials that you can grab at the same time.

Pick a couple to add to your Easter baskets this year or put up on shelf with the other decorations.

Holland Lop Rabbit:

I have had my eye on this pattern for a while and there is not better time than now! This might be the cutest animal pattern out there.

Description from website: This is a quick, all-in-one knitting pattern to make this little Grey Holland Lop Bunny. Knitted over 2 straight needles, her body created with minimal seaming, joining as you go. In fact, the only parts you’ll sew on afterwards are the hind legs.

Other things you’ll need to create a bunny similar to mine:

  • Pair of US #5 needles, plus one spare
  • 15 mm brown toy safety or black amigurumi safety eyes
  • Heavy weight toy filling

Moss the Sheep:

These little sheep remind me of the little animal toys that came with Fisher Price Christmas manger scene we have for the kids. Absolutely adorable!

Description from the website: Introducing Moss the Sheep which is knitted using moss stitch. This pattern includes instructions to knit both the large and small sheep. The big sheep is 12 cm tall, and the little sheep 5cm tall. All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight single pointed. You will also need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases and sew seams.

Egg Cup Bunny:

If you have a ton of little ones to knit for, this might be a great option for you to give each of them a little token of love on Easter morning.

Description from the website: My Egg up Bunny is a teeny tiny rabbit, only 10 cm high and small enough to sit in an egg cup. All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight single-pointed knitting needles. You will also need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew seams.

Tiny Easter Chick:

Just when I thought a knitting project couldn’t get smaller and cuter than the one before, this one comes along! With a footprint no bigger than a quarter, this pattern will test your tight knitting skills for sure.

Description from the website: Introducing my Tiny Easter Chick knitting pattern, a quick Springtime knit. The finished chick is 3.5 cm tall. A You will also need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew seams.

Easter Eggs:

If you are feeling creative this Easter, this is a great pattern you an add your own flare to. I know for us, decorating eggs just gets more fun the more you do. Now you can make and decorate eggs that will last much longer than the ones that get eaten up on Easter day!

Description from the website: None available

Bunny Bags:

This pattern speaks for itself! So many great ways to utilize this and if you make it for a little one, they will enjoy it long after easter is over.

Description from the website: Bunny Bags are decorated with cute bunny faces. The bags are just the right size to hold a chocolate easter egg or several smaller ones. After Easter, children will have great fun filling their bags with toys etc. If you’d like to knit a small bunny to fit into your bag then I recommend “Rascal Rabbits’, Baby Bunny in a Basket or Bedtime Bunny, as they are just the right size and all the patterns are available from Dollytime on Love Knitting.

Eggy Chicks:

I think these would make a great accent piece for the table at Easter dinner.

Description from the website: Introducing my Eggy Chicks. With this knitting pattern you can make the two chicks; the plain yellow chick in a hat, and the yellow chick, plus the instructions to knit the striped hat. The chicks are 8.5cm tall without their hats. All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight single-pointed knitting needles. The yellow and white chick knitting pattern incorporates fair-isle (or stranded) color-work. You will also need to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew seams.
